What are the examples of magnetic separation?


The mineral and morphological characteristics of chromite strongly affect separation efficiency and upgrade low-grade deposits. Chromite enrichment is usually carried out by using gravity separation due to the high concentration standard between chromite and other minerals. However, the chromite from Sukinda in India is the typical type of chromite with high iron content in the spinel, as well as the gangue content in the form of oxides and hydroxides containing the iron content. Therefore, due to the low concentration standard value, the separation efficiency is reduced by gravity method. To solve this problem, dry iron stripper is another method of separating these iron-bearing gangue minerals from chromite. This work investigates the application of different dry high intensity magnetic demagnetizers in Indian iron ore chromite deposits. Before the separation, the two separate deposits in Sukinda were subjected to detailed mineral, chemical, morphological and magnetic characterization to reveal the separation. The test confirmed the influence of magnetic field intensity and other technological parameters affecting the separation process of iron-bearing gangue minerals. Based on process experiments and statistical analyses, the results of these separators are related to the effects of mineralogy, process parameters and mineral magnetism. In addition, the effect of desliming low-grade deposits before dry desliming is emphasized.
