what is magnetic separation method?
Ideal location for brewery magnetic separators and metal detectors
You can't find a piece of metal in your glass of beer. However, when accidentally introducing impurity metals in the form of screws and nails during the brewing process, the processing equipment is damaged and the taste of the beer is affected. In this article, we will explore the best way to ensure that the brewing process is not affected by stray metal.
As with any food processing, there are many places where metal may be inadvertently introduced. As raw materials are collected from the field and then transported to the brewery by large trucks, contamination of metals and other materials is inevitable.
Here, we look at a typical brewery and determine the location of the magnetic separator and metal detector to eliminate any metal contamination.
Malt feed line
When malt is transported by truck or rail, it is usually pneumatically transported into a storage silo. A pneumatic single row magnet and / or metal detector WOU
Ensure that any impurity metals in the raw materials are removed prior to storage.
Pneumatic in-line magnets are designed to fit easily into the pipe without any obstruction. It has a magnetic plate magnet that is mounted on one side to attract and secure any ferrous metal. Then manually remove it at regular frequency.
Metal detectors identify and reject any remaining metal contaminants, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Since most of the metal contamination at this stage is iron-containing, the installation of a metal detector behind the magnet inside the wire can reduce the number of metal detections and thus reduce product loss.
Before milling
The grid magnets are typically located in or above the feed hopper of the mill, especially if there has been no prior metal separation or detection. The tweezers magnet is a series of tube magnets designed in the grid that can be mounted in the hopper. To maximize protection of the mill, the grid magnet uses a set of high magnetic strength rare earth neodymium tubes. This protection ensures that no foreign metal enters the factory and can cause serious and expensive damage.
Hops feed line
Protection is important whenever the raw materials are introduced into the process, while the grid magnets and Quicktron metal detectors ensure that the hops entering the brewing kettle are metal free. This design of metal detectors is used for free fall materials. When the material enters the metal detector, any metal is detected and then automatically rejected. The tweezers magnet reduces the amount of material lost during the culling by removing any ferrous metal.
Between brewing pot and whirlpool/settling tank
After the brewing tank, a magnetic liquid trap and a neodymium magnet specifically designed to withstand high temperatures will provide ultimate protection prior to settling.
Yeast feed line
Just like the hop feed line, a combination of a grid magnet and a Quicktron metal detector will ensure that no metal will enter the process.
Adjust between the tank and the filter
To protect the filter, a magnetic liquid trap is typically installed after the canister is adjusted.
Before bottling
As with many food processing plants, it is a good practice to install a metal detector (P-Tron in this case) at the end of the process. This provides the final stage of protection to ensure that any metal introduced into the process from a damaged processing device (such as a filter or pipe) is detected and removed.
This is a typical example of a brewing operation. However, each plant is unique and often requires on-site visits to evaluate and recommend the best way to ensure a metal-free end product.
