what is magnetic separation in chemistry？

The raw materials used to form the tiles include clay minerals mined from the earth's crust, natural minerals (such as potassium albite) used to reduce combustion temperatures, and chemical additives used in the forming process. Minerals are usually refined or selected near the mine before being shipped to the ceramics factory.

Feldspar raw materials must be crushed and classified according to particle size. Primary crushers are used to reduce bulk material. Whether using a jaw crusher or a rotary crusher, these crushers use a squeezing motion between horizontal steel plates or a rotary motion between steel cones.

Secondary pulverization reduces the smaller mass to particles. A hammer mill or a grinder is often used. The mill uses a steel wheel in a shallow turntable, while a hammer mill uses a fast moving steel hammer to smash the material. A drum or cone crusher can also be used.

A third particle size reduction step may be necessary. Grinding type grinders are used in combination with grinding media. One of the most common types of ball mills is a ball mill consisting of a majority of the rotating cylinder partially filled with a spherical grinding medium.

The screen is used to separate particles within a specific size range. They operate in an inclined position and improve material flow by mechanical or electromechanical vibration. The screens are sorted according to the screen number, which is the number of openings per inch of the screen surface. The higher the number of grids, the smaller the opening size.

Feldspar manufacturing process

Once the raw materials are processed, there are multiple steps to get the finished product. These steps include dosing, mixing and grinding, spray drying, forming, drying, glazing and firing. Many of the steps now are done using automated equipment.
