what is magnetic bead separation?
Wet iron removers, which are commonly used to recover/exclude ilmenite from HMC prior to dry separation. Ilmenite generally requires a low TiO2 content (about 50%) and therefore a high magnetic susceptibility.
The wet iron remover unit consists of a rotary turntable having a vertically inclined convex plate through which the feed slurry passes. When the carousel rotates, it passes through the area affected by the magnetic field generated by the surrounding electromagnets, followed by the area without the magnetic field. The magnetic particles are initially held in the plate, while the non-magnetic particles are flushed into the underflow cell. When the plate is in a non-magnetic field, the magnetic particles are then rinsed into a separate flow cell below.
In order to operate successfully, the wet iron remover needs:
No magnetite (can be hung on the board/substrate)
Contains no +1mm grain (can block the plate/matrix)
Have a clean supply of high pressure water
Stable feed rate and density
The readings for the wet iron separator operating variables are:
The field strength (indirect measurement and adjustment control through the electromagnet's amplifier) is typically as high as 15,000 Gauss.
Cleaning water level and flow
Board gap (usually 2 mm)
Product dispenser location
The feed rate of a 16-pole unit is usually 25 -30 tph
