what is magnetic separation method?
Dry iron removers, which are commonly used to separate ilmenite from less magnetic and non-magnetic in a dry mill.
The dry iron remover consists of an electromagnet that senses the magnetic field onto a serrated rotating roller through a closely spaced cast iron rod. The dry feed is distributed over the entire surface of the roll and on the surface, depending on the magnetic susceptibility of the grains being held on the rolls or discharged due to the centrifugal movement of the rolls. The machine has two parallel feed points, each with two rollers mounted perpendicular to each other and the lower roller working as a non-magnetic cleaner.
The run variables are:
The field strength (indirect measurement and adjustment control through the electromagnet's amplifier) is typically as high as 15,000 Gauss.
The pole spacing (the higher the field strength near the gap) is usually 2 mm.
Roll speed (usually fixed, can only be adjusted by changes in pulleys and belts)
Splitter position (determined by visual observation of the fan)
Feed temperature affects magnetic susceptibility
Feed rate is usually 2.5tph
