what is magnetic separation in Feldspar?

 

Kaolin is an indispensable material in the production of porcelain and ceramics, paper, pigments and fillers. It is usually accurate or adsorbed on the surface of kaolin or mixed together as a transitional stage to render most of the kaolin cannot be used commercially, because some whiteness or loss of fire resistance is insufficient, and the original kaolinite is usually associated with various impurities. Including quartz, anatase, rutile, pyrite, siderite, feldspar, mica, etc., depending on the origin and sedimentary environment. Purification of low grade clay is a viable and necessary alternative resource for high grade clays. Various physical and chemical (and more recent microbiology) techniques have been developed with the goal of removing oxides or hydrated oxides in clay. These techniques generally include magnetic separation, froth flotation, selective filtration, size separation of hydraulic cyclones, and chemical leaching. However, any of these methods separates all of the Fe from the kaolin, which remains to be achieved. It can be effectively improved by using microorganisms that reduce iron.

Chemical methods, currently the most common method, use strong reducing agents (such as iron ore) at low pH to remove most of the iron leaving very white kaolin.

However, these methods also have disadvantages: they involve extreme working conditions and are expensive.

An alternative to traditional chemical methods is the use of organic acids produced by filamentous fungi such as Aspergillus and Penicillium, using residues containing large amounts of organic carbon as substrates (whey, molasses, etc.) ,

The ability of heterotrophic microorganisms to dissolve metals from solid materials is very helpful in improving the quality of mineral raw materials such as kaolin, clay and sand.

Magnetic separation to remove iron from kaolin

 Magnetic contaminants such as iron minerals and iron anatase can be removed from kaolin clay using a high gradient iron remover. This kaolin removal method is not so obvious compared with the chemical iron removal effect, but the cost performance is high, so most users in China still choose to use the magnetic separation method.
