In order to separate high purity quartz concentrate from a fluorite tailings, the PTMS removal of impurities is based on the principle of quartz purification. The experimental conditions of magnetic separation, reverse flotation and pre-desliming are comprehensively investigated. PTMS magnetic separator can remove the iron inside (Fe2O3).

The results show that quartz concentrate with SiO2 grade of 98.66% and recovery of 66.07% can be obtained by the process of magnetic separation for iron removal -- reverse flotation for desulfurization -- reverse flotation for defluorination -- reverse flotation for mica removal without pre-desliming. PTMS magnetic separator can remove the iron inside (Fe2O3). On this basis, a quartz concentrate with SiO2 grade of 99.11% and recovery of 58.16% can be obtained by removing 15.44% slime in advance.
