Electromagnetic PTMS magnetic separators are based on electrostatic forces applied to temporarily charged particles. The design of electromagnetic separator is based on the electrification mechanism of minerals. According to the charged mechanism, electromagnetic separator can be divided into the following 3 categories:
1) Free fall electrostatic separator;
2) high voltage separator;

(1) Contact or friction electromagnetic PTMS magnetic separator (free falling electromagnetic separator)
In this kind of electric separator, charge is obtained by contact or friction between particles or with a third material, such as the wall of a container, feeder, chute or nozzle. The particles are then exposed to an electric field and separated according to their polarization and how much charge they carry.

(2) Conducting induction PTMS magnetic separator
When particles are in contact with conducting electrode, conductor and non-conductor can be separated in the electric field, which is the basis of conducting electric separator. When there is a high voltage electric field, different particles and grounding conductor contact, can be conductive induction charged. Usually by conduction, conductor particles are charged quickly, while insulating particles are charged much more slowly, thus separating them from the insulating particles.
