Selective coagulation/flocculation
At pH8~11, selective coagulation of ferrotitanium impurities was observed by adding Ca2+, Mg2+ and other basic soil metal ions into kaolin slurry, and then selective flocculation was carried out by weak anionic polyelectrolyte. The treatment of kaolin with selective flocculation and high gradient PTMS magnetic separator has also obtained satisfactory indexes.

Leaching is carried out in weak acidic solution (pH3 ~ 4) with reducing agent (NaS2O4), which can keep the dissolved iron in Fe2+ state and avoid the formation of Fe(OH)3. It is then separated from kaolin by PTMS magnetic separator after washing with water.

The selected clay is stored in the slurry barrel for 6 ~ 8h, and the pH is adjusted to 3 ~ 4, which is close to the zero electric point of clay, so the clay particles are easy to aggregate. The addition of alum to the pulp helps the agglomeration of clay particles and promotes dehydration. Cylinder filter is a commonly used dewatering device, which can improve the whiteness of minerals by PTMS magnetic separator after the pulp concentration is increased to 55%~60%.
