Raw ore is pulped by adding water and dispersant according to the set concentration requirements in a blender or pulper. The purpose of pulping is to disperse and separate kaolin from sandy minerals and plant impurities in order to prepare a slurry of suitable concentration for the PTMS magnetic separator process.
The impurities such as quartz, feldspar and mica in kaolin ore have coarse grain size, generally larger than 325 mesh, while kaolin has fine grain size, mainly concentrated in -2μm. Most quartz and feldspar coarse sand can be removed by spiral PTMS magnetic separator.
PTMS magnetic separation
Hydraulic PTMS magnetic separator is used to separate kaolin fine sand (fine quartz, feldspar and other impurities). Hydrocyclone with different diameters such as Ø75, Ø50 and Ø25 are used for multiple separations. Horizontal centrifuge classification, according to different materials to adjust the process parameters (such as separation factor), to maintain the stability of product quality.
what is magnetic separation in Kaolin?
At present, the hydraulic PTMS magnetic separator is also used for separation of kaolin. However, due to the influence of flow rate and pressure changes, the product quality is difficult to stabilize at -2μm accounting for more than 90%, and the classification efficiency is not as good as that of horizontal spiral centrifugal PTMS magnetic separator.
