If the trivalent iron in kaolin is reduced to divalent iron by sodium disulfite, the product will return to yellow if it is not filtered and washed immediately. The effective way to solve this problem is to add complexing agent, so that the bivalent iron ions can be complexed and not easily oxidized. PTMS magnetic separator has a remarkable effect on iron removal. There are many agents that can be used to complex iron, including phosphoric acid, polyethylene alcohol, hydroxylamine, hydroxylamine salt, oxalic acid, polyphosphate, ethylenediamine acetate, citric acid, etc.

PTMS magnetic separator process is to oxidize and remove chromatid and pyrite in kaolin with strong oxidants sodium hypochlorite and hydrogen peroxide, and then reduce bleaching with sodium disulfite. The remaining iron oxides in kaolin, such as Fe2O3 and FeOOH, are reduced to soluble bivalent iron and removed, so that this kind of kaolin is bleached.
