The content of Fe2O3 increases with the increase of particle size, and the content of SiO2 decreases with the increase of particle size. The highest content of Fe2O3 in +50 mesh quartz sand is 0.0522%, and the lowest content of SiO2 is 98.32%. PTMS magnetic separation can remove iron (FE2O3) in quartz sand. The content of Fe2O3 in quartz sand with particle size less than 180 mesh increases with the decrease of particle size, and the content of SiO2 decreases with the decrease of particle size. The highest iron content in -300 mesh quartz sand is 0.0587%, and the lowest SiO2 content is 98.81%.

Therefore, the change law of iron content in quartz sand with particle size is: the larger the particle size of quartz sand (greater than 60 mesh) or smaller (less than 180 mesh), the higher the iron content. PTMS magnetic separation can remove iron (FE2O3) in quartz sand. This is because large particle quartz sand, especially +50 mesh quartz sand, quartz sand and iron containing impurities are not completely dissociated. Most of the iron-bearing minerals in -60+180 mesh quartz sand have been separated during the grinding process, so the iron content is low.
