Common carrier flotation PTMS Electromagnetic Separator method for removing iron and brightening kaolin
Magnetic separation process
In order to reduce the iron content and improve the whiteness of kaolin to the maximum extent, the carrier flotation PTMS Electromagnetic Separator method is commonly used to remove iron and improve the whiteness of kaolin. With Taal oil as collector, sodium carbonate as pH adjusting agent, ammonium sulfate as inhibitor and sodium silicate as slurry dispersant, the Fe2O3 content of a kaolin was reduced from 0.72% to 0.5% by carrier flotation method with the help of conventional mechanical agitation flotation machine.
PTMS magnetic separator
Carrier flotation PTMS Electromagnetic Separator method is to add mineral carrier, such as calcite, in the flotation process to adsorb very fine impurity mineral Fe2O3 to the carrier mineral. By means of collector or the hydrophobics of the carrier itself, the carrier foam and kaolin concentrate products containing iron are obtained. Thus kaolin can be separated from Fe2O3.
what is magnetic separation process?
The effect of PTMS Electromagnetic Separator on iron removal is not only related to the adsorption, binding, coagulation and mixing of ferric impurities in kaolin, but also to the pH value of the slurry system, the time and place when the carrier is added. Therefore, the application of carrier flotation in removing iron and brightening kaolin is limited.
