Quartz sand purification PTMS Electromagnetic Separator process is more efficient to remove impurities. Acid washing, leaching, and thermal chlorination are the three main chemical treatment processes. Acid washing and leaching are more effective for treating the inclusion impurities, while thermal chlorination can remove the more difficult lattice impurities. Because quartz is insoluble in acid (except for HF), other impurity minerals can be dissolved by acid.

The acid immersion method is beneficial to remove the separation of the film iron on the surface of the quartz particles and the iron impurities inside the quartz particles, and also used to separate other impurities, so that the iron removal effect of PTMS Electromagnetic Separator is further improved. Apickling is using less soluble acids such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, while leaching uses high temperature hydrofluoric acid to most efficiently remove surface free impurities and the impurities enriched in microcracks and along dislocations.
