In the process of PTMS magnetic separation iron removal, the quality of raw material has an important influence on the efficiency of iron removal. First of all, the characteristics of potassium-sodium feldspar ore should be analyzed in detail, including the chemical composition, mineral composition, particle size distribution, iron content and its existence form of the ore. Through chemical analysis, we determine whether iron exists in the form of free minerals such as hematite and limonite, or occurs in minerals such as mica.

For different forms of existence, using different PTMS magnetic separation iron removal methods or adjusting the parameters of the iron removal process may be required. If iron exists mainly in hematite, magnetic separation may be more effective; if iron is deposited in mica, multiple methods such as magnetic separation and flotation may be required. After understanding the ore characteristics, some pretreatment operations can be performed.

For ores containing large amounts of clay or fine mud, it can be washed or removed first. Mine washing is suitable for feldspar from weathered granite or feldspar placer, mainly to remove impurities such as clay, fine mud and mica, which not only can use PTMS magnetic separation to reduce Fe ₂ O ₃ content in feldspar ore, improve the potassium and sodium content in feldspar.
