what is magnetic separation in chemistry?

(1) Tank structure. The tank is one of the important parts of the magnetic separator. In order to improve the separation effect, the super large cylinder PTMS electromagnetic separator adopts the structure of a high-ore slurry level tank, which increases the slurry level from the conventional 150mm to 250mm, that is, the depth of the barrel immersed in the tank increases, which extends the length of the separation belt of the equipment, which is conducive to the recovery of coarse and fine iron ore. At the same time, as the separation zone becomes longer, the gangue inclusions are more likely to get out of the coarse concentrate, thus improving the grade of the concentrate.
In consideration of the characteristics of faster settling speed of coarser grains in slurry, the structure of coarse grained tailings discharge in advance is designed in the tank, so that the coarse grained gangue can enter the tailings trough in advance before it reaches the tailings overflow weir after the separation, thus avoiding the situation that the coarse grained gangue sinks and blocks the separation space and thus loses the separation function.
Due to the channel's long axial length and large volume, the ultra-large magnetic separator has problems of whether the distribution of axial slurry flow is uniform and whether the channel is stressed and deformed. In terms of the strength design of the channel, support and reinforcement plates are added in the axial direction to ensure the processing precision and the installation levelness of the tailings overflow weir and concentrate discharge opening.
In the concentrate discharge area, magnetic field lines can pass through the concentrate discharge plate and affect the discharge of magnetic concentrate, so a magnetic isolation device is designed in the tank to reduce the influence of magnetic field lines and make the concentrate discharge smoothly, which is very important for large equipment.
(2) Feeding method. For a super large magnetic separator with a magnetic tube length up to 4, 500mm, whether the length can be evenly distributed to the ore directly affects the quality of the sorting index. In order to solve this problem, a unique feeding device is designed based on the traditional feeding device. In the design, an ore feeding pipe with a diameter of 273mm and a length of 4100mm was added to the ore box to process an ore discharge gap on the ore pipe. Due to the slurry pressure of the ore pipe and the small ore discharge gap, the ore feeding pipe was always filled with slurry and slurry discharge was found in the 4m long range of the ore feeding pipe. The slurry flows into the feeding box, after buffering, flows into the magnetic separator tank uniformly through the overflow plate, thus solving the problem of feeding the ore.
(3) Selection of transmission mechanism. As a super large magnetic separation equipment, in consideration of the stability of the structure, the through-shaft structure is used to replace the traditional half-shaft transmission mode, which solves the stability problems of the barrel support and transmission mechanism under the conditions of large barrel diameter, far fulcrum, heavy load and large handling capacity.
