In order to cope with the rapidly growing demand for raw material resources, at present, both at home and abroad are increasing investment in the construction of larger mines. It is the most effective and direct way to reduce production costs and improve economic benefits by using new and efficient large or super-large mining and sorting equipment to improve production efficiency and output. Several large mines or polymetallic mines with processing capacity of 4 ~ 10 million t/a are under construction or are planning to be built. Domestic enterprises are investing in the construction of many large mines abroad, and even the construction of super-large concentrators with annual iron concentrate production of 24 million t. The newly-built concentrator generally requires simple and practical process equipment configuration, large and efficient equipment and high degree of automation. Therefore, in 1 200mm× 3 000mm magnetic separator based on the development of a larger 1 200mm× 4 500mm magnetic separator on the agenda. For super large magnetic separator, how to make the magnetic field characteristics and large volume of pulp sorting characteristics combined, is the difficulty of magnetic system design, and magnetic field characteristics are determined by the magnetic circuit design, polarity arrangement and the use of magnetic materials, it determines the size of the magnetic field force and mineral sorting effect. Due to the long spindle size of magnetic cylinder of super large PTMS Electromagnetic Separator, its bending deformation under the action of magnetic material gravity is relatively large, so it must be considered in the design process and its deformation must be reduced as far as possible. Ultra-large cylinder type PTMS Electromagnetic Separator in the sub-selection of all rare earth magnetic steel structure, because the magnetic energy of rare earth magnetic steel is more than 10 times that of ordinary ferrite magnetic materials, in order to meet the magnetic field strength and depth of action at the same time, the volume and mass of the magnetic pole decreased significantly. With the new stepped magnetic pole structure, the mass of magnetic system is about 40% of that of traditional design, which is of great significance to reduce the influence of spindle deformation on equipment precision and magnetic field distribution, and improve the reliability of equipment.
