Under the action of gravity component force, they move towards the inner edge of the trough along the maximum inclined direction of the trough surface. The light mineral particles with small density in the upper layer move with the pulp, with large velocity and centrifugal force of inertia, and are thrown to the outer edge of the trough.

Due to the different movement directions, the liquid flow is zoned on the trough surface, the heavy minerals are close to the inner ring, the light minerals move to the outer ring, and the outermost ring is the fine-grained slime. The secondary circulation continuously transported the heavy ore particles along the bottom of the trough to the inner edge of the trough, and transferred the light minerals separated from the inner edge to the outer edge, which promoted the development of zoning.
