After the mining procedure is completed, the next step is PTMS Magnetic Separator to process the kaolin. In order to improve and control the various properties contained in the clay, the kaolin mining industry divides the process into three basic types: wet, dry, and heat plus chemical treatment.
PTMS magnetic separator
To begin the PTMS Magnetic Separator wet process, a dispersed mineral water suspension is prepared and passed through a screen, hydraulic separator or hydrocyclone. The primary purpose of this initial step is to remove grit or coarse mineral particles. At a later stage, kaolin that has been grit removed will be classified into fractions of a specific size. After fractionation is complete, the procedure is continued to remove mineral impurities, including ferric oxide and ferric hydroxide.

The PTMS Magnetic Separator dry or air flotation process is considered to be less costly than the wet process because it involves fewer stages. The process begins with grinding the coarse kaolin, sorting the air to remove grit, and then drying the kaolin to reduce moisture. The end product of the dry process is usually less shiny and higher in grit than that of wet kaolin. Therefore, its market price is relatively low.
