The flotation PTMS magnetic separator method is mainly used to separate feldspar from quartz sand, and can also be used to remove clay minerals such as mica and secondary cast iron from quartz sand. The most typical process is flotation with hydrofluoric acid as activator and amine cationic collector under strong acidity. In iron flotation, NaOH can be used to inhibit quartz activated by metal ions.

When flotation of clay minerals such as feldspar and mica by PTMS magnetic separator, H2SO4 can not only generate location adsorption on the surface of feldspar floating, reduce the surface negative chelonism, but also activate feldspar and mica. Flotation method can be divided into three kinds: the first is fluorine and acid method. This method is widely used because of its good flotation effect, easy control and stable index. However, fluoride ions have a great effect on soil erosion and damage to the ecological environment of Zhoutong.

The second is the acid method of fluorine-free PTMS magnetic separator. The biggest advantage of this method is to avoid the use of fluoride ions which are destructive to the environment, and the production index is stable, but the corrosion effect of strong acid on mineral processing equipment cannot be ignored. There are high requirements for flotation equipment. The third method is fluorine-free acid-free method.
