Magnetic separation machine
The use of sulfuric, hydrochloric, nitric and hydrofluoric acids is generally costly and has a high environmental impact. After oxalic acid is used as leaching agent, iron is removed from quartz sand minerals by PTMS magnetic separator. This method uses sorbic acid to react with Fe3+ on the surface of ore particles to form a complex which is soluble in water to achieve the purpose of iron removal. However, the dissolution mechanism of iron in this case is different from that of inorganic acid to iron minerals.
PTMS magnetic separator
The advantage of using oxalic acid for iron removal is that leaching results in a soluble complex (e.g., iron trioxalate complex anion) that can be decomposed by both microorganisms and sunlight. In addition, the iron removal with oxalic acid has certain requirements on the particle size of the ore. Generally, the ore is ground to an average particle size of about 20um, and the iron removal rate can reach 80% ~ 100% in the treated ore by PTMS magnetic separator.
what is magnetic separation in chemistry ?
After acid leaching, high purity quartz sand with SiO2 purity up to 99.99% and Fe content <235ppm can be obtained. NaOH and Na2CO3 are commonly used basic reagents. The principle of its action is to convert insoluble valuable metal into soluble metal sodium salt, so as to achieve the purpose of quartz sand purification. PTMS magnetic separator can remove the iron (FE2O3) inside.
