Ultrasonic iron removal is mainly to remove the secondary iron film on the surface of the particle. After 10 minutes of treatment with PTMS magnetic separator technology, the iron removal rate can generally reach 46% ~ 70%. In order to improve the ultrasonic cleaning effect, a small amount of reagents (such as sodium carbonate) and surfactants (such as water glass) can be added. At present, the mineral processing cost of quartz sand is relatively high, and it is still difficult to apply in large concentrators, but for those with high purity requirements, low production is OK.

The extraction of thin film iron or iron leaching microorganism from the surface of quartz sand particles is a new technology for iron removal by PTMS magnetic separator, which is currently under laboratory and pilot study. Microbial Aspergillus Niger leaching has a good effect on iron removal. The removal rate of Fe2O3 is as high as 88.8%, and the grade of Fe2O3 in quartz sand is as low as 0.008%.
