Quartz is an antimagnetic material and is not magnetized by magnetic field, while iron-containing impurities such as hematite, limonite, magnetite and goethite in quartz sand can be magnetized. Using spiral chute PTMS magnetic separation, quartz mortar can be divided into granular heavy mineral area, granular quartz sand, sheet and light quartz sand, which can not only remove heavy minerals in quartz sand, but also partially remove mica minerals.

Reselection is difficult for mixed particles, sheet particles, light mineral particles and medium density minerals, and can be used effectively over the entire particle size range of quartz sand, but flotation usually limits the upper limit of the particle size range.
